We are pleased to announce the signing of a collaborative R&D partnership between VinChip Systems and Dr. M.K. Srivas. Dr. M.K. Srivas, who is a faculty in Computer Science at Chennai Mathematical Institute, Siruseri, Chennai, and a Visiting Researcher in Computer Science Department at the University of Oxford, UK, is a leading expert with more than 25 years of academic and industry experience in the area of Embedded Systems Design and Formal Verification. Under this collaborative engagement, Dr. Srivas will help VinChip apply and adopt state-of-the-art formal verification techniques to enhance quality of VinChip's flagship IPs, including the Floating Point Unit of the 32 bit processor VinRZ5110(India's first home-grown RISC processor) and the patent-pending VinSMDP/IDT - System Memory Debug Probe/Instruction and Data Trace Capture Tool based on USB2.0 and achieving 30x improvement over JTAG-based tools. Formal verification techniques can be a key differentiator for third-party IPs as they can guarantee freedom from functional hard-to-locate corner-case bugs that elude or escape traditional simulation methods. This collaboration will also explore how these advanced techniques can be used to identify critical power bottlenecks to make VinChip's IPs best-in class for low-power applications.
